Road cones are possibly the only thing Kiwis get more worked up about than the price of butter. There’s even a digital hotline set up by Government to flag excessive use. (Road cones, not butter.)
As trenchless infrastructure specialists, we can’t help with the cost of butter. But we can help reduce the number of road cones, and disruption to traffic, pedestrians, and to businesses.
Trenchless, manhole to manhole, remediation of wastewater, storm water, and drinking water pipes cuts back the number of road cones needed by about a quarter – while still keeping everyone safe. It also results in significant savings in time, labour, and traffic management costs.
BurrowTech Managing Director, Hayden Powell explains. “Open trenches are much more demanding, in terms of labour and time, and that means there’s a potential hazard there for much longer.”
He says STMS (site traffic management), and TC (traffic control) represent significant costs on an open trench job.
As an added benefit, trenchless technologies also produce significantly fewer emissions than open construction due to the shorter duration of time on the project and the elimination of road reinstatement work.
